Case Studies

Context Sensitive Solutions case studies.

Case studies are examples only.  Each road is unique.  What is true for one road is not true of every road.  Treat these case studies as an example of what can be done.

Context Sensitive Hamburg (80K) by Dan Burden, provided by Walkable Communities.  Case study of application of CSS to the downtown reconstruction of the main street in Hamburg, NY (pop. 17,000).  Unhappy with initial designs by NYDOT, Hamburg turned to Walkable Communities, Inc. for help.  The result was an unqualified success.

Route 53's Suitability for Conversion to a Three-Lane Road (565K)  by Mary Kaufman
A citizen's examination of how Route 53 in Dupage County, Illinois meets criteria for conversion to a three-lane road with two-way left-turn lanes.  This is a large document, so the appendices have been split out as separate documents.
