You can follow the average daily traffic counts on IDOT's site.  Just zoom in to IL Rte 53 and you'll see the aadt.

Regional Planning Board, formerly known as CATS, has estimated a lower future traffic count for old Route IL 53 in central DuPage County--May 2007 (Ribich, pers. com., 2007)
